Our firm provided planning, design, permitting, funding application, bidding, and construction quality control services for the Phase 2B Landfill at the Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority’s Solid Waste Facility. While prior landfill cells incorporated natural clay, which was expensive and difficult to place, the Phase 2B cell was the first at the landfill to employ a double composite, completely geosynthetic liner system consisting of GCL, geomembrane, and geosynthetic drainage net. This resulted in a more cost effective and environmentally sound system.
Our firm provided planning, design, bidding, and construction quality control services for the Section 2 Final Cap at the Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority’s Solid Waste Landfill. This second section of the landfill closure consisted of the remaining uncapped portion of Phase 1B and a portion of Phase 2A, totaling approximately 7.4 acres.
Our firm was responsible for planning, design, permitting, bidding, and construction phase services for the 17.5 acre Phase 3 Landfill Cell at the Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority’s Solid Waste Landfill. By employing special design techniques and utilizing state-of-the-art materials, our firm was able to double the capacity of the cell and extend the life of the landfill – without increasing the height of the cell above the previously approved maximum. The project was successfully completed within budget and a strict schedule as dictated by the remaining useful life of the preceding cell.
