Our firm is providing dam management services on the Lake Mohawk Dam, which is a Class I earthen embankment with timber and a vinyl sheet piling retaining wall. The dam is 580 feet long, up to 20 feet high, and impounds 777 acre Lake Mohawk. Our firm performed the required inspection of Lake Mohawk Dam, as well as provided LMCC with an updated Operation & Maintenance Manual and Emergency Action Plan. We designed and managed a dredging project to remove sediment from the lake in the vicinity of storm drain discharges.
Our firm was retained by SLCA to provide bidding and construction administration and inspection services for the downstream slope stabilization of the earthen dam which impounds Scenic Lake. While the lake was being lowered to facilitate those repairs, a partial collapse occurred on the upstream slope of the dam. We conducted hydrogeological and geotechnical investigations to determine the cause of the collapse, and designed remedial measures which were approved by NJDEP. We designed required improvements to the spillway structure on the dam, provided construction administration and inspection services for these additional projects mandated by NJDEP, and drafted an Operation & Maintenance Manual for SLCA. These services allowed the refilling of the lake during the summer of 2017 and the resumption of the SLCA community’s recreational uses of this resource.
Our firm is providing dam management for the Upper Lake Mohawk Dam, which is a Class I earthen embankment with concrete and metal sheeting core wall, a vinyl sheet cutoff wall, a 78 foot long concrete weir spillway and a low level outlet structure. The dam is 575 feet long, up to 20.7 feet high, and impounds 18 acre Upper Lake Mohawk. CP Engineers has most recently performed the required Regular Inspection of the Upper Lake Mohawk Dam, as well as provided the LMCC with an updated Operation & Maintenance Manual and Emergency Action Plan.
