Williams Transco – Culvert Replacement

Williams Transco – Culvert Replacement

This design/build project, completed in coordination with J. Fletcher Creamer, required the preparation of a design for the replacement of an existing collapsed culvert beneath the primary access driveway of the Williams Transco natural gas transmission and distribution facility in Carlstadt, New Jersey. The design included the replacement of the culvert that allows passage of the tidally influenced waters of Bashes Creek and the complete reconstruction of the primary access driveway. The final design included 60 foot deep sheet pile headwalls, with a unique design required to install the culvert after the headwalls were installed. The control of water and construction around a significant amount of existing utilities, including several high pressure natural gas transfer mains, required an atypical design and installation approach.
