CP Engineers and Thompsontown Borough – Building a Stronger Community

Celebrating Nearly Six Years of Partnership and Progress –

Thompsontown Borough Council has entrusted CP Engineers as their retained engineer, continuing the impactful work started by cb3 Solutions, LLC since August 2019. This partnership has blossomed into nearly six years of continuous service, marked by collaboration on three major, grant-funded projects and a shared commitment to community improvement.

Project Spotlight: Improving Drainage & Recreation –

In 2019, CP Engineers’ Brian Book, PE, hit the ground running, literally!

Immediately after their appointment, Brian supported the Borough in installing additional drainage to alleviate ponding along the walking trail in the outfield of the local ball field. This vital improvement, funded by a Juniata County Marcellus Shale Legacy Grant, made the area safer and more enjoyable for residents.

A Vision for the Future: The 5-Year Master Plan –

With the success of the initial project, Thompsontown Borough launched a comprehensive 5-Year Master Plan, identifying key needs and opportunities:

CP is excited to continue supporting Snow Partners as they set new standards for adventure and fun in the region!

  • Supporting the Haldeman Park Well: CP Engineers is currently designing this project for the Thompsontown Municipal Authority (TMA).
  • Developing a Helipad for Emergency Services: Ongoing grant efforts are underway.
  • Installing a Dry Hydrant for the Fire Company: Permit applications are in progress.
  • Establishing Emergency Power: Work continues to secure backup power for TMA’s Reservoir Hollow Wells and Chlorination System.
  • Upgrading the Sewer Collection System: Grant applications are in progress for critical repairs.
  • Rebuilding Pond Street/Alley & Stormwater System: Completed in 2022.
  • Resurfacing Haldeman Park Walking Path: Completed in 2024.

Major Milestones: Multimodal Transportation Grant Success –

In 2021, Thompsontown Borough secured a $250,000 DCED Multimodal Transportation Grant, supplementing it with American Recovery Act and Liquid Fuels funds. This enabled the resurfacing of Pond Street/Alley, School Street, and Shearer Street, as well as the replacement of approximately 1,400 feet of stormwater pipe in Pond Alley.

Recent Highlights: Haldeman Park Walking Path –

Last fall, the Borough, with cb3’s assistance, resurfaced the Haldeman Park Walking Path. This much-needed upgrade included:

  • 2,400 linear feet of 6-foot-wide asphalt path
  • New park benches
  • Enhanced stormwater drainage

Looking Ahead: New Community Projects –

CP Engineers is excited to continue serving Thompsontown Borough. Upcoming priorities include:

  • Supporting the transformation of the old Lutheran Church into a new Community Building
  • Advancing the helipad for emergency services
  • Tackling additional stormwater projects

We’re proud to be part of Thompsontown’s journey and look forward to many more years of partnership and progress!
