Wastewater Treatment Projects

Warren County (Pequest River) MUA – Belvidere WWTF Upgrade

Our firm provided planning, feasibility, design, permitting, funding application, bidding, and construction phase services for a major upgrade to a 0.5 MGD wastewater treatment facility. The design utilized all of the existing units from the original secondary treatment facility and employed an innovative process (Upflow Sludge Blanket Filtration) to meet the new effluent limits in the most cost-effective manner. The project ultimately won the Association of Environmental Authorities’ Forward-Thinking Award.

West Milford Township MUA- Awosting WWTF Upgrade

Our firm prepared the design and construction documents for the construction and modifications of the Awosting Wastewater Treatment Facility. The project included the construction of a coarse headworks screen, equalization tank, aeration system, influent pumps, fine screens, preair and anoxic zoned concrete tanks, Membrane Bioreactor System, and a sludge holding tank. The existing facilities were removed and modified to allow for chemical usage, MCC electrical systems and onsite laboratory. The upgraded plant was designed to handle a daily flow of 65,000 GPD with a peak daily flow of 180,000 GPD. We provided construction administration and observation services and were the liaison with the contractor, administration and operators on this sensitive project. The project was successfully completed on-time and on-budget.

Sussex County MUA – Upper Wallkill WWTF Upgrade

Our firm prepared the design and construction documents for the construction and modifications of the Upper Wallkill Wastewater Treatment Facility to include a new 256,000 GPD MBR Facility. Included in this project was the construction of a 60 foot clarifier, influent bar screen and fine screens, pumping stations, new above ground concrete process tanks, a new two story process building, Membrane Bioreactor System, pumps, HVAC, new HDPE receiving pond and UV disinfection system. The new plant was constructed while the existing facilities continued normal operations. We provided construction administration and observation services and were the liaison with the contractor, administration and operators on this sensitive project. The project was successfully completed on-time and on-budget.

Warren County (Pequest River) MUA – Oxford WWTF Upgrade

Our firm provided planning, design, permitting, funding application, bidding, and construction phase services for the upgrade of a 0.5 MGD wastewater treatment facility. The project upgraded the plant from secondary treatment to advanced tertiary treatment (Modified Ludzick – Ettinger Process with effluent filtration) to meet more stringent nutrient removal requirements. Significant cost savings were realized through maintaining and optimizing existing treatment units.

Washington Township Shopping Center Wastewater Treatment Plant

When the existing wastewater treatment plant for the Washington Township Shopping Center had a catastrophic failure, the owner was forced to haul all wastewater to a remote facility at a cost of nearly $30,000 per month. We were honored that they turned to CP for help. To solve their short-term issues, CP designed and permitted a Sequencing Batch Reactor plant utilizing modified frac tanks. We were able to put this plant into full operation within a matter of months, where a permanent plant can take years. Being fully permitted through an NJDEP Treatment Works Approval, this plant will serve the needs of the facility until a planned future development necessitates further plant expansion.

Boyd’s Bear Redevelopment – WWTF and Pump Stations

Developed the preliminary engineering design documents, and completed the required permitting for the wastewater facilities required as part of the Boyd’s Bear redevelopment project in Greenmount, PA. The initial work consisted of the design and construction of two pump stations and a 0.150MGD Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) WWTP, with tertiary filtration and UV disinfection. The treatment plant was designed in a modular fashion such that future flows up to 0.300MGD can be treated as additional development on the project site is completed. Prepared the Water Quality Management Permit for the proposed design of the facilities in addition to the initial National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Permit (NPDES).
