Our firm was responsible for design, bidding, and construction phase services for generator transfer switch and cable tap box installations at thirteen fire stations and police precincts. We reviewed each location’s electrical usage history and visited each site to assess each location’s unique requirements. We sized and specified the required equipment to make the generator connections and developed a recommended equipment layout based on the as-found conditions. In some cases, an upgrade of the electrical service was required.
The East Orange Water Commission retained our firm to design the installation of an emergency power system to provide back-up power for the entire White Oak Ridge Pumping Station. New equipment included a 2MW – 5kV outdoor diesel genset in a sound attenuated enclosure with in-base fuel tank & fuel transfer system from an aboveground fuel tank; 5kV automatic transfer switchgear; 1000kW, 5kV load bank; 2500kVA, 34.5kV:4160kV substation transformer and related switchgear. This project involved all aspects of building construction and design disciplines. Challenges included planning and implementing the work to tie in the new equipment while maintaining operations.
Sussex County Community College retained our firm for construction administration services for the upgrade of their 500 square foot computer/server room and 400 square foot IT support room in a 40,000 square foot classroom and office building. Scope of the project included a 250kW outdoor diesel fueled engine-generator set with testing loadbank, 1000A automatic transfer switch, 50kVA UPS, 3 (N+1) 5Ton CRAC units, FM-200 fire suppression system, fire alarm modifications, standby power circuiting for 3,500 square foot office and classroom space, upgrade of the 208/120V main switchboard from 1200A to 2000A, and related service, standby power and UPS distribution system modifications.
